Additions to Prehistoric Settlement

Thanks to a helpful e-mail I received from moonhippie I have decided to add to my Prehistoric Settlement collection.
moonhippie pointed out that there wasn’t as much combat as there could have been in our first game and he is quite correct. There was an element of being happy to build our own little clans and leave everyone else alone for the most part. Little raids certainly caused reprisals but nothing major was attempted until right near the end when it became imperative to stop a temple (mine) being built.

moonhippie also pointed out that having more fighters to support would tax our resources more and encourage a bit more forward planning.

On consideration of moonhippie’s points I have decided to add some more playing pieces to the mix.
However, I don’t want to buy and paint a load of figures for each clan in the hope that they may be used, so I am going to produce a ‘pool’ of figures that anyone can call on so long as they have the means to build them.

Here’s what I plan to do:

Tents

The only way to increase the overall number of people in your tribe is to build enough tents to house them. I plan to add two more tents to the mix. This isn’t enough for everyone of course and should encourage some competition early on.

If you decide you need more people for whatever reason and all the tents are gone you’re just going to have to go and destroy one to make it available again. Once you’ve destroyed one though, the chances of you getting to build it are slim; someone else is bound to snatch it up before your next go so you’re going to have to destroy a few tents at once to try and delay things.

I will be adding the following house rule for tents:

If your tribe has a ‘pool’ tent and another one of your tents is destroyed you must swap the destroyed model for the pool one so that the pool tent is available for others to build.

If you are able to rebuild a tent before anyone else there will not be a problem and you can reclaim the pool tent. If you can’t rebuild straight away because another player has beaten you to it you must lose enough figures to bring your clan down to the correct number of figures for the tents you have. The choice of which figures you lose is up to you but you must lose ‘pool’ figures first before any of your own clan figures.

Figures

I will be adding the following figures to the mix:

16 Clubmen for some basic fighting muscle.
8 Slingers for added missile troops and because I haven’t painted any of these yet.
3 Axemen because I have them left over already. They may form an elite fighting cadre for a single tribe if it’s lucky enough to get them all.

All the new figures and the tents will be painted in a different colour to the existing tribes and will have bases that are both circular and with a different coloured ground cover on them to help distinguish them at a glance.
