Rebelstar Moonbase

Anyone remember Rebelstar on the Spectrum 48k? A superb little 1 or 2 player sci fi war game designed by Julian Gollop who went on to make Laser Squad and X-Com. I played this hundreds of times with Mike broadbent in the 1980s and it's still one of my favourite games, (I have it on my PC).
I'm building the Moonbase in 25/28mm scale which makes it 8ft by 5ft, each graphics block on the map equals 30mm square on the model. I want it to look like the Spectrum screen, so the floor will be black and the walls will be cyan etc. I'm going to be using figures primarily from Alpha Forge Games and I hope to have some games using their excellent Star Mogul rules when I'm finished.
Before that, however, I will be producing my own rules to recreate the action from the original Rebelstar game. I hope to be able to debut this at the Redoubt Show in Eastbourne this year as a participation game. Hopefully it'll entertain up to six players for a couple of hours.
I plan to make the thick walls out of wood and the thin walls from cork. Various scratch built and purchased scenery items will be added of course for the gas canisters and suit racks etc. These will mostly be seperate so they can be moved or destroyed during play.
One of my biggest headaches were the craters but this has been solved by David Boulding at Bouldings Mouldings who is making me the items I need for a very reasonable price.
Update
Ok, well a quick breakdown of the time I'll need for this has shown that it won't be ready for the Eastbourne show. Even if I make a section a day and paint a section a day it will take 80 days to complete and that's before I paint any furniture or figures. It looks like this will be a big on-going project for the year. I don't like big projects, they have a habit of not getting completed, oh well, we'll see, fingers crossed.
