December 2009

Most of December was spent painting individual figures for my Drug Wars Project from Westwind Productions and Obelisk Miniatures. A couple from Copplestone Castings sneaked in too. When I was basing them I decided to base the robots I'd painted earlier in the year to see if it improved their look. What do you know? It did! All that effort wasn't wasted after all. Together these two sets gave me a total of 53 for this month to end the year on a respectable if not great 351.

I only bought 10 miniatures this month too, some for next year and a couple that have already been painted. The total for bought figures is still 200 more than I painted but most of them are sitting in draws earmarked for next year's beginning projects whilst nothing too major is looming on the horizon that I 'must get'. Hopefully ballance will be restored in the coming months.

November 2009

My Great Apes from
Obelisk Miniatures finally joined the Tarzan Crossfire army and Slug-Eat-Your-Face with some Fenris Games slug minions and a Reaper Miniatures Bigfoot were added to the Saucer People mix. My Drug Wars project that's really meant for next year had more SWAT and some Police painted for it bringing November's total to 21.

I bought 128 figures this month, mostly modern stuff ready for next year's projects although this total also includes the slugs, Police, SWAT and Bigfoot from the painted list. It's rare for me to get to paint stuff in the month I buy it.

October

I added another four stands of Jungle and, as a change of pace from Napoleonics, started on a Police project for next year with some SWAT from Britannia Miniatures, and their vehicles from Pardulon. A modest piece of the lead mountain that adds 17 to the painted total for this month.

Enthused by my game at BLAM 09 I ordered a load of African soldiers from
TAG as well as some modern British and a few more Afghans to swell the bought total by 46 figures.

August-September

August began with the first of my Napoleonic figures getting painted for my Napoleonic project. I started with the French as they are the ones I least want to paint, lovely figures from Front Rank Figurines. However, as the summer holidays began, I felt the urge to build something (as I always do with time off from work) so I stopped the figure painting and started to make stuff.

I finished off Entebbe airport and then added some more buildings to my existing (lonely) African one so that I do actually have a set of Modern African Buildings. Not content with this I finally got round to making some Jungle bases that I've been meaning to do for years. September only saw me complete the second shanty town base and then I had a rest for the remainder of the month. Bizarrely this made a total of 37 painted items for the two months with exactly matched the 37 figures I bought. These were mostly additions to existing sets, Napoleonic, Saucer People and Twilight.

July

This month I pushed ahead with my Invasion of the Saucer People project. Girl campers from Inkerman Castings, more Hillbillies, this time from Copplestone Castings and some pigs for them to tend; can't have hillbillies without pigs. These particular pigs are from Irregular Miniatures. The first of the aliens were painted as well. These are Critters from the recently reopened Wargames Supply Dump (welcome back Roger). All these raised the painting total by 31.

I obtained a few more things for my Saucer People and Napoleonic project and caught up on some Boxer rebellion figures too which saw me adding another 63 lumps of lead to the bought total.

June

I began my Invasion of the Saucer People project this month with some Hillbillies from Inkerman Castings and some of their livestock from Mega Minis getting painted. Before starting on these I also painted 26 assorted robots as another faction for my Future Wars project. I'm not happy with the robots though so I haven't included them in the painted total, just the buying total for last month and this. Without the robots boosting the painting total it remains a paltry 17 figures for June.

I bought quite a few figures this month and pushed the bought total up by 102, some of which were robots but most were little men in shakos becaue I found myself gripped for some unknown reason with Napoleonics fever.

May

A giant worm, 2 lions and 52 Xenomorphs with their Queen, egg chamber and hive entrance brings the total for May to 63. The majority of these are of course for my Future Wars project which was my main focus this month.

I also went ahead and bought a lot of figures for upcoming projects so the total for these has jumped up by 160.

April

55 TAG African rebels for my Congo project and other modern conflicts, 36 Alien Greys for my Future War project, 11 pieces of Desert hills and part of Entebbe airport made April a good 'catch up' month.

I only bought 4 figures so the ratio is still good too.

January-February-March

Two lions from Steve Barber for my Tarzan Project in February and the BEF Miniatures Batmobile and bat swarms from Reaper miniatures for my Weird War 2 project project in March makes for a dismal start to the year. All I did in January was buy nine figures. 6 painted miniatures and 9 bought in three months. Never mind, better things ahead.
