It's my summer holiday which is when I like to embark on something that will hopefully be completed before the end of my break as well as being a bit special. Currently I'm working on my WWII Burma project which is nearly completed. Indeed, I spent the first two weeks of my holiday chugging along, painting Japanese soldiers. My plan was to make my jungle scenery as my special holiday project once all the figures were done. However, I noticed I wasn't getting any more done whilst I was off work than I was completing when I was at work. I decided I needed a change of pace and this is it.
My plan is to make a self-contained game, rules, figures and scenery, for four players involving dealing drugs in a modern American city.
I know, it's not the most family-friendly subject, but then, neither is war and I play that all the time.
The basic premise is to make an area of slum where each player's gang will control a corner to deal drugs from and some buildings, including a business, to defend as their turf. The players will be able to fight each other and outside agencies that will appear from time-to-time such as the Police and rival gangs. I see the game as more of a 'building an empire' game than a straight out skirmish game.
Here is my plan for the board. Loosely based on a Baltimore location from The Wire. The first thing I'm doing is building the terrain which is detailed here:
I'll be working out the rules as I go as well. More as it happens...
