Originally these creatures were vagrants living beneath the streets of New York City who were mutated by leaking radioactive waste into the horrible monsters that terrorise the city today.
C.H.U.D. are only encountered in heavily built up urban areas where they move around unseen using the sewer system. They launch swift attacks from below street level to capture or kill people for food. Anyone who is injured by a C.H.U.D. and not killed mutates into a C.H.U.D. themselves after a short time, adding to the numbers.In recent times there have been reports of ‘Super C.H.U.D.’, possibly the result of the mutation affecting aliens lifeforms.
