OK, call me impatient, but I couldn't wait.... http://thegamesshed.wordpress.com/2010/06/17/fubar-one-page-sfmodern-rules/
Let me know what you think.

Hi All, FUBAR is going great guns of the Forge of War Yahoo Group. We've several playtest reports as well as rules ideas and genre supplements. On the blog I'm getting about 100 hits per day, most on FUBAR, but still a respectable number for FoW after a friend put a review on Board Game Geek. I'm off to Belgium with work again this week so I probably won't be dropping in for tea until the weekend. Cheers, Craig.

I've downloaded it but not had a look yet, never seems to be enough hours in the day for everything. I'm glad it's proving popular. Have fun in Belgium (is that possible?)

I don't know, I write a ONE PAGE set of rules and his nibs has't got the time to read it :lol:. For my next trick I'll do a one paragraph set involving rock-paper-scissors...
There is no fun in Belgium. Under EU law Belgians must be sober and aloof at all times - and their beer is cak!
I now have a busy bunch of mates creating genre supplements for FUBAR including Generic Sci-Fi, Stargate SG-1, Hammers Slammers, Star Wars and many more. Once they've been playtested I'll begin putting them up on the blog and drop some links here.
Cheers, Craig. | |

Right, the Hammer's Slammers and Clone Wars supplements are on the Yahoo group, just need to playtest them before publishing on the blog.
Also FUBAR - Medieval, and an eleventh century force supplement called "1066 and all that" are also on the Yahoo group. I am a busy, busy beaver this month

Another week of summer drags it's sorry carcass to a close and one of the excellent chaps at the Forge of War Yahoo! Group [note shameless plug] has uploaded a video battle report using the FUBAR rules.
I really don't deserve these guys.
Craig.
Btw: Aleksander is about to release the last film in the trilogy about his family. This one is about his Father who set up the Compare the Meerkats business in old Moscow and how he had to do business with filthy muskrats to survive. it's a real weepy

Hi All,
Well there's a pile more FUBAR material on the Forge of War Yahoo! Group.
The members of the Forge of War Group are really getting into this now so expect a lot more soon.

FUBAR Second Edition, clarified and expanded but still only one page, is now up on the blog.
Chris's Generic Sci Fi supplement and my supplement for Stargate One have both been brought into line with the Second Edition and are also up.

But it's impatience tinged with brilliance... Is there to be an "army lists" type supplement or a breakdown of troop % - (Like elites can only make up 5%, Veteran 10%, Regulars 45%, Conscripts 40% of your force?)

Now that the SF community have been loaded with FUBAR goodies it is time to swing back to the reason I wrote FUBAR in the first place - namely WWII small unit actions.
The supplements I am thinking of creating are: In Dark of Night - Trench Raiding in WW1. Freedom! - The Easter Rising in Dublin 1916. The Eagle & the Bear - Streetfighting in Stalingrad 1942. Patchwork Hell - Fighting through the Normandy Bocage in 1944. Where Caesar Stood - Fighting in the Italian Peninsula 1944. A Bridge Too Far - Operation Market Garden, Arnhem 1944. Banzai! - Island Fighting in the Pacific 1944-45. When Old England's Done - The Walmington-on-sea Home Guard versus dastardly German Paratroopers 1940.
This should keep me busy for a few weeks

Well 2nd edition came out a couple of weeks ago and whole bunch of guys have playtested them and suggested improvements.
Now we are on draft 2.6 and powering towards 3rd edition.
In addition we are taking two approaches to converting Warhammer 40K. - One is a detailed one page supplement per codex. - The other is a rough and ready less detailed approach. Already we have a two page supplement that covers Imperial Guard, Space Marines, The Inquisition (including Battlesisters and Grey Knights), Chaos Space Marines, Orks and Tau small unit forces, including vehicles. There is discussion on Necron going on as I speak.
A draft points system has been mooted, against my better judgement as I actually like unbalanced games with a story behind them. But people wanted points so we have a points system. The FUBAR 40K supplement has been used as a tryout and it seems to work.
The Yahoo Group is up to 200 members with perhaps a dozen getting their hands dirty. In the last two weeks we have had 1500 hits & FUBAR downloads on the blog.
We seemed to be cooking with promethium at the moment.

Latest on FUBAR... the WW2 Infantry Platoon Force Supplement has been uploaded to the Forge of War Yahoo Group for discussion before being polished for publication on the Blog.
German, British, American and Japanese platoon structures are explored in a number of versions.

The team discussing a possible 3rd edition of FUBAR have been coming up with some imaginative ideas for introducing morale rules without increasing the word count. The one page rule being sacred!
The basic idea is that if your unit has sustained 50% casualties and fails its activation it withdraws a full move instead of going On Guard. There is a supplementary idea that says that the withdrawing unit then tries to make a second activation and if they fail that they become combat ineffective and are removed from play.
Anyone here got any better ideas?

Busy as always
Draft rules for FUBAR Vietnam, FUBAR Space Hulk and FUBAR Starship Troopers are all up on the Yahoo Group. A first stab at producing an W40K Eldar list also landed in the message boards today.
In addition to this we are now working toward the 'final' version of FUBAR for a third edition release later in October. And if that wasn't enough we will simultaneously publish a one page supplement containing all the best of the alternative/optional rules created by the players.
We just can't stop the music!

The draft version of the Third Edition of the FUBAR Core Rules is now up on the Forge of War Yahoo Group. It will remain there for review by the members for about a week before the final version is set and published here. If you want to take part in this just join the group.
The team have created a lot of clarifications and rules improvements over the last couple of months, and many of these have made it into this edition. It is hoped that this latest version will become the standard for a long time to come. Then we can focus on all the various force supplements people want.
In addition, all the interesting ideas that did not make it into the Core Rules will be edited together into FUBAR X.0 , a set of optional and alternative rules for you to try.
