Let's see, since I last posted I have:

  • Uploaded the first draft of my new Fantasy Wargames Rules, Unleash Hell!!, to the Forge of War Yahoo Group. It includes some of the same mechanics as Forge such as Activation & D-markers, but is different as it is focused on battles between armies rather than smal unit actions.
  • Playtested Thwacket (the game of fantasy village cricket with guile and applied violence) with the Montgomeryshire Crew. Had a blast, and I now have a raft of corrections, clarifications and good ideas to integrate into the next edition.
  • The new version of my Thud'n'Blunder RPG rules are undergoing a final revision before release on my blog.
  • Painted 40+ plastic dwarves from EM4, only another 110 to go...
  • Watched with enormour pride as my boy was given the local Rugby Club Uner 11's player of the year award.

Not bad for a month really. That's about 2% of my gaming to do list sorted

OK, been distracted, all other projects went to one side as I:

1. Wrote a set of one page fantasy RPG rules, and then did a conversion of same into an alternative 17th century.

2. Converted five W40K bikers into Imperial Guard Rough Riders and two ork buggies into dune buggies bearing lascannons.

Ho hum... too many ideas, too little time.

Well done. Always good to scratch things off the "To Do" list.

I haven't had much hobby-related activity recently, and I'm starting to feel it. I became a Grandfather, have commissions lined up, and been writing though, so there's always something to do.

Thanks man.

If I'd known how good it was, I'd have done it first.

So June wanders in unannounced when I hadn't quite finished May, but hey-ho such is life .

So what have I been up to... let's see:

1. Half-finished painting my Imperial Guard in their Desert Camo. Base colours are on, now down to the detail work.

2. Converted an Ogre Kingdom's Ogre to be their Ogryn Command Squad Bodyguard/Standard Bearer.

3. Converted half a dozen Night Goblin Giant Spiders to become mobile gun (Heavy Bolter) carriages for the IG. The nickname of my 121st Carrenian Jagers is 'Die Sandspinnen' - The Sand Spiders.

4. Written a one page set of small action rules for WW2/Modern/Post-Modern/SF, and begun doing a one page W40K army list for said rules.

These rules are called FUBAR by the way, and I think I may be close to finally nailing the level of simplicity I want to achieve - rules even I can remember . Once the local laddies have seen them, and had chance to either comment or have me sectioned, I'll upload them to The Games Shed blog and place a link here.

So eleven days into the month and the wheel are turning. What are you lot up to?

I'm painting the last 5 Simba so expect photos soon; 38 rampaging Congo revolutionaries to fight against my mercenaries.

I'm also basing up some D&D rock creatures to be used in my Pulp Sci Fi games, I hope to have this up and runnning by BLAM in October this year.

The buying total has gone throught he roof this month as I bought two sci fi insect forces. 32 Spice Lice from Irregular Miniatures who are supported by 3 Grendel Kryomek tanks are the first group and they'll be helped/fighting against 24 Termagaunts from GW. I have to add bug eyes and antenae to the Termagaunts to make them suitably 'buggy'.

Each of the insect forces will end up with 8 bases of figures (+ the tanks for the Spice Lice).

Becaue these were an unplanned purchase I hope to do them soonish.

I also bought some Chiltern Vietnam Americans to add to my mercenaries. Sadly, although some of their figures are a perfect match for my existing Britannia figures, one pack was just too big and will be binned. I also got 8 SAS in embassy storming gear from Chiltern, these are going to be used for, well, I'm sure you can guess.

A few personalities from Reaper and elsewhere rounded out the total.

I've been painting the Simba since April, interspersing them with other stuff, so, once they're all based I can update my Painting Logs at last.

African Warlord troops next, then I'm not sure, I'll be buying some Britania Malayan Emergency figures in the near future becaue they look so nice and are inspiring me so I'm guessing they'll get moved up the list as soon as they arrive.

Brits and Afghans over the summer I hope, Twilight may be relegated (and possibly sold off).

Right we have movement on FUBAR.

I've written supplements to allow people to use Warhammer 40K, Stargate SG1 and Stargate 1895. They'll need double checking before I publish but I must admit to being quite pleased with them <smug smiley>.

I'll try and get these uploaded in the next day or two as next week I'm in sunny Belgium (work unfortunately).
