Due to the fact that my hours at work have been cut by an hour a day, which means i am losing £32 per week,i have been buying more soft plastics,ie italeri/ceasar.

Now i know theres alot of snobbery when to comes to this choice, and theres always some that look down at them, but why is it at "Wargames emporium" in sheffield they are always sold out !!.

Ceasar figures are very good and cover huge peroids, their modern range is brilliant !!.Also they are the only company that do "fantasy figures" which are very good. Also what is brilliant the figures themselves can be converted because the plastic they use is perfect for superglue (i use the gale force nine superglue" this stuff works a treat!!.

Also painting and basing them is great, washed in warm soapy water/dried then under coated in games workshop grey they look brilliant !!.

Italeri are brilliant as well, all though not all sets are convertablie due to the plastic, but the set themselves are stunning, the motorcycle and the italian flak cannon are superb sets!!.

Anyway my point is,with cost of metal being more than i am willing to pay ie you get 4 assault group figures/1 games workshop figure/1 infinity figure/4 artizan germans for about £5-6 or more.I can get 35-46 figures and convert them for the same price !!.All periods are being covered now and with abit of work/time and effort they can be anything i want:).

Friday i bought the "chinese pla and french army" set from ceasar, they were brilliant !! now these will cover everything from a zombie decontamination squad to say starship troopers figures. So for £20 i get 4 -5 boxes of any period i want

where normally if in metal i would get say 3-4 figures and maybe some paint at a push.

So what are others thoughts on plastics (i know there are the new plastics victricx/warlord/perry acw) and these i can highly recommened stunning sets of figures all of them!!

Just like to know what others think:) cheers 6mm tony:)

Hi Tony,

Don't forget Wargames Factory (USA) and Warlord Games (UK). Along with the Perry twins they are also marketing an increasing range of 28mm hard plastic wargames figures.

Wargames Factory in particular have a system running where if enought people sign up to an idea for a range they will design the miniatures and then produce them.

The only ones I have seen in the flesh are the Perry's ACW infantry, which are up to their usual sculpting standards.

It seems where GW led others are prepared to follow. Boxes of 20-36 figures are retailing at between £12 and £15 which compares very favourably to metal, though not to 20mm (1/72nd) plastic. The plastic all these chaps use though is the same hard styrene that GW do so they are very good for converting.

Cheers,

Craig.

Hi Tony,

You might like to try out my friend Will's blog.  He is the plastic supremo as far as I'm concerned, buying and painting thousands of 1/72 plastics a year.  you can find him here:

http://willwarweb.blogspot.com

He runs great games too, and writes his own rules - sometimes I really hate him :)

Cheers,

Craig.

Just a quick update to the top post,i placed.

"I am still working full time and did not cut my hours (this fact was due to my dad being very ill) long story"

As stated i shall be saying with said "1/76 scale plastic figures/vehicles" sorry these are great fun for me and i love them buying them:).With the cost of metal being beyond the reasonable i think i am making the right choice.

Cheers all your mate as always tony:)
