There are many, many more sights in the game than my paltry selection but I hope these will give you a taste of what the game has to offer and encourage you to give it a try. The basic game is completely free to play.

Halloween is here again so, whilst I haven't been doing much in Anarchy Online recently, I've been active for a week as this is the time to get stuck back in and go hunting for Uncle Pumpkinheads and collect as much seasonal loot as possible for all my characters. Here's Lolrsk8 in her snazzy skeleton suit and pumpkinhead mask. You'll also notice she bagged an extremely rare pumpkin lantern too!
Also, if you're observant enough to notice the lantern, you'll have noticed that I have left my old organisation and joined a new one called Famous Last Words.

I recently made neutral trader so I could have access to all the shopping channels and shops on Rubi-Ka, not just the OmniTek ones. Being neutral means I can travel anywhere on the planet without the guards shooting me so I hope to see some interesting sights in Clan controlled areas that I may have missed previously. To begin with I did the Clan garden key quest in Nascence which gave me my first view of the Garden of Aban.

Mitakashi is after an alien communications relay to increase her already formidable nano skills so it was time to let the aliens attack our city so she could possibly loot one off the alien General when we killed it. This was another first for me, I've only been in 4 alien raids and never been invited to board the ship at the end until now. We didn't survive to the on-board general but we got to the last wave of his troops so not bad for a first try.

This week Ion reached level 200 (well, 201 actually) which is a milestone for her and me, my first 200+ toon in Anarchy Online in seven years of playing. Here's a picture of Ion in her pink Yalmaha taking a closer look at the space ships above Omni Entertainment.

New items to celebrate Anarchy Online's eighth birthday arrived in game. Along with the usual party knick-knacks and frippery the orbital apartments were also unveiled. Here's a shot of the scene that greeted Mitakashi as she entered hers. A wonderfully spacious abode with views out into the near orbit of Rubi-Ka where space craft can be seen flitting by. Each apartment contains a grid terminal, a GMS (shopping) terminal and a Bank terminal; all very useful. Early adopters also get a special black flying limo so they can travel in style. Each apartment costs 980,000,000 credits, a snip.

I haven't been playing much recently, just messing around with low level stuff. I made a new toon for the Subway, Lolrsk8 or, to give her her full name, Teehee Lolersk8 Roflecopter. She's a level 24 Fixer. I've twinked her for the subway but need to do more work as she can kill everything except the boss Abmouth Supremus. I know a 24 fixer can kill him as I've seen it done but at the moment I'm stumped on ways to improve her. Anyway, here she is:

I took Mitakashi to the plastic surgery clinic in our city HQ to make her taller and give her a new face, partly because she was too short and partly because I'd never used it before (well, it costs 25 million credits a time so...)
Meanwhile, in Borealis, others were combining their vehicles into a giant scorpion!

Deciding I needed a new low level toon to explore Newbie Island with and later send to the Temple of Three Winds (yes, I know I hate it but...) I made a Metaphysicist. I already have Matakishi, my namesake who's an MP but he was made before even Shasdowlands came out and was my first character and is so gimped I don't play him any more. So, Mitakashi was born, I'm hoping I will have lots of MP fun with her without the prospect of having to level past 100 to 170 which is a real hurdle for her profession and the reason I haven't developed Matakishi further.

Here she is waiting for the alien ship to discorge its crew so she can kill them for their new alien loot.
And, here she is, less than a wek later in Rome. All kitted out and ready to take on the Temple of three Winds. I am happy to report that at level 59 and self buffed she can kill everything in the temple including Atzur the Immortal who turned out to be not quite as immortal as he imagined.

Ion spent the last part of 2008 reaching level 198 and managed to get an Inferno garden key as well. I joined the Wickid Intent Temple of the Three Winds Crew with a new character, Hollidai, a Doctor. I soon got bored with the temple, horrid place, and decided to level past 60 to 90 so I could hang around Foreman's for a bit. Currently Holli is doing just that with the occasional side trip to Shadowlands and elsewhere for necessary items and equipment.

An evening of Inferno missions saw Ion reach her target level of 190, finally Title Level 6 and able to wear her 1750 token board. A further solo effort in a Penumbra dungeon got her to level 191 so she could go and claim her specialisation 4 as well. Added to this is the good news that the Santa leets are out in force around tower sites dropping Christmas gifts when they're killed. Ion has got loads of goodies but still no dancing Santa doll or mistletoe, neither of which seem to be dropping this year.
Next on the agenda is a push to level 195 which allows new nanos to be used, including the top charm. After that there will be a long session of grinding research levels before 200.

The Santa leets are out in force giving away Yuttos nativity scenes and leets all made from gingerbread. No dancing Santa dolls or mistletoe this year which is a pity, Ion missed them before and would like a set. Ion went back to her Omni Forest nightclub to film the procedings and found the atrox had changed out of his purple suit into a black martial arts suit, not as flashy. Once I can find a way of making the film a decent sized file I'll post it.
With the help of her orgmates Ion got hold of the Ice Golem molar that allows access to Inferno and went travelling there for the first time. Not very Christmassy at all. There is a nice high viewing vantage near the entrance so she got some snaps for the album. Inferno missions are beckonning with all the xp that entails. Ion is hoping to reach level 190 before Christmas day, she's currently 184.

Christmas has started on Rubi-Ka. Ion went to Omni Forest to watch the snow falling for the first time and while she was there she found a little night club in an almost abandoned settlement which contained a dancing Atrox in a purple suit (more of him later). I've stuck three screen shots into a little animation of the light show which you can access by clicking on the picture below.

Not much interesting to show for the last ten days. Ion had been deep inside Shadowlands static dungeons grinding her way to level 190. She got to 180 yesterday and took a break at Rome Blue Basic shop as usual so she was around when the Advisors of Rubi-Ka came calling for recruits. Ion likes the idea of helping people in-game which is what the ARKs do, they're volunteers that work for Funcom; they greet new players, organise special events and help sort out problems. However, the time investment is too much at the moment so Ion didn't step forward.
As a bonus, here's a view of the Grid. Ion and Felix are waiting to go to Camelot to help a friend with a quest.

It's been a quiet month for Ion, she's spent some time continuing with a quest in Penumbra and managed to fit on a set of decent QL255 Combined Scouts armour that Kroeger lent her but apart from that she's spent her time helping others; pad quests and Steps of Madness runs have been the order of the day. Time to turn off the research and concentrate on leveling to 190 next. Anyway, here are some of the gang hanging out at the Rome Blue Basic Shop, RBB as it's known. Can you spot yourself?

Ion was recently promoted to a Squad Commander in Wickid Intent so she got to sit in on a Generals meeting *yawn* meetings are such fun, much better than killing things and looting and getting phatz etc. Anyway, here's the snazzy meeting room in the org city HQ.

Halloween is still in full swing, Ion has diligently hunted down as many Uncle Pumpkin-heads as she can find and seems to have managed to collect a full set of seasonal goodies. She was particularly pleased to find a pumpkin torch which is a rare drop this year, (she found two). Here she is showing off the limited edition Halloween hover bike with Kaiyote on last year's model.

Back to Scheol for the Yuttos quest. Ion needed to do a lot of insignia farming so she found herself a horror and let the slaughter commence.

Dragged into Penumbra with promises of great xp gains and interesting sites Ion embarked on the fairly simple garden key quest which took all over the frosty realm. On her travels she came across this Yuttos encampment at the edge of a forest; very picturesque.

Ion's not a fan of Shadowlands, her nano forulae don't work properly and she has to run everywhere because her vehicles won't function there either.
However, there's items worth having and the scenery is often spectacular, so recently she made an effort to explore the Shadowlands further.
She completed the quests for the keys to gardens and sanctuaries in both Scheol and Adonis which at least means she has a safe refuge and access to the teleporters when she's out and about. Here are some snapshots of her on her travels. My new monitor is wide screen so the pictures are in a different aspect ratio than previously. As always, clicking on the small image will bring up a larger version.
Scheol is a rocky, barren place that's hard to traverse. Strange and ancient Xan machinery long unattended but still throbbing with power litters the landscape.
There are some slightly more pleasant spots in Scheol. The beauty of this one is lsightly marred by the fact you have to wade through giant spiders to reach it.
Beyond Scheol is Adonis, reached by crossing a natural stone bridge spanning a chasm, the entrance overlooked by an animated but unfinished Xan colossus.
Large areas of Adonis are underwater. Luckily breathing aparatus is provided by Ergo at the entry portal. As you can see, I've swapped my stuffy Bureaucrat suit for a snazzy bikini.
What isn't underwater seems to be covered in snow. I'm beginning to wish for my stuffy Bureaucrat suit back. I may have to turn the sabretooth into a fur coat when he's finished killing stuff for me.
Once I'd secured the keys I needed I took some time out to journey back to Elysium and spawn some Pocket bosses with a friend so we could slaughter them for their loot, mostly sought-after symbiants. Randulf and I managed a decent haul between us in a very short time.
As a break from Shadowlands I spent some time taking the fight back to the alien invaders. Here I am on one of their ships with an alien centaur that I managed to persuade to turn on his friends.
